Six Human Needs Test

Dear Friends,
I have created a 6 Six Human Needs Test that is simple to use and that will give you information on the order of importance of a client’s needs. I’m sending you the test, instructions for scoring, how to interpret the scores, and a survey that I’m asking you to please respond to. I’ve enjoyed creating this test and I think you will enjoy it too and find it very useful. I’ll be happy to respond to any questions or comments.

  1. Well here I was wondering if I could turn the Six Human needs into a quiz or a test that I could use on the web site I have just started on and then Hey presto I get this email to find out you guys have already done it. Fantastic! I have downloaded the questionnaire but where is the rest of it? The scoring etc. I have clicked on the other links but nothing seems to happen. I believe in technical tems this is know as a broken link.
Perhaps there will be more info tonight (22:00 hours CET)
Look forward to the call anyway.
    Keep up the good work!

  9. Hello,
Thanks so much for the survey it was very helpful1! I had one question because I didn’t see any information on inner conflicts of Growth and contribution as your first two needs and their is only one couples example with Growth and contribution. Was their a reason for this base on these two needs?

    Thanks again.

  15. I took a test with couple of people and it really helps people to understand who they are.
Not 100% accurate but it does have direction and good interpretation.

    Thank you.

  17. Hi Cloe,
I took the Human Needs test and think it is pretty accurate. Unfortunately there is no write up for Growth and Contribution as the top 2 needs (will you be adding it?) so I could not read a summary and would love to do so. I read the other summaries and liked how they were written though. This tool will be very helpful in coaching clients.
I found it personally useful as well and will have my husband take it this weekend.Thank you for developing it.

  31. Hi Cloe, WOW, thankyou so much for the effort you have put in to create the 6 Human Needs Test. This will be a huge help when coaching a client to determine their needs in order of importance – God Bless!

  33. The Human Needs Test is excellent however the scoring is a bit confusing to me.

For instance, we are to total all Y and multiply by 1, all P and multiply by .5 and all N’s and multiply by 0.

The Ns will always be zero so why test for them at all?

The Y is somewhat straight forward since there is always a corresponding integer. My Y for instance is 55 so

my number one need is Contribution which I would say is 100% accurate.

    Now my P is a little tricky because the .5 multiplier gives me a score of 10.5 because I scored 21 P’s (21 x

    0.5 = 10.5).

Since this is a fraction, and none of the Human Needs have a fraction, do I round up to 11 (which will give me

a #2 Human Need of Contribution again) or do I round down to 10 (which will give me a #2 Human Need of

Certainty)? I’m not sure that Certainty would trump Significance for me though (the closest #s would be 9 and

    15).

Granted it could be that I fulfill Significance via recognitions for my Contribution. I believe I am more of a

risk-taker than the test results are indicating though.

What is the best way to score the fractions on the Scoring chart?

NOTE: I answered the first that came to mind so as to get my unconscious response to each question.

    Thanks,
    J

  34. jchristopher on February 21st, 2012
  35. Let me just add that I see the correlation between Significance and Certainty in the Interpretation PDF, however I’m still unsure of the best way to handle the fractions (round up or round down)?

The Interpretation PDF is masterful and I definitely learned a great deal about myself and gained insight into the affect of my needs on Self and loved ones.

Thank you Cloe for this amazing tool!

  41. Hi Cloe, I found the test right on target! It is the perfect tool for accessing the information needed to be a better coach and use the 6 human needs modality. I am very impressed and loved that you also included the definitions and what your needs may be costing you and how it is useful to you. Just what RRI coaches need.

    Thank you!!

Amazingly useful instrument. Can we start using it with our clients? I just love it, since my background is in clinical psychology and family psychotherapy, so I am familiar with tests. I will give you more feedback in Spanish (I hope you don´t mind) in the e-mail I will be sending you immediately. Thanks so much for being such a giving person.

  59. Thanks so much for this. It was quite interesting to compare the results with the first homework. In the first homework, I had answered that Love/ Connection was my top need when in the Needs Test, I answered questions that resulted in Loving Connection much lower down, as the fourth need.

My answer on the first homework
    1.Love/Connection; 2.Growth; 3.Certainty; 4.Significance; 5.Contribution 6.Variety

    And on the Test:
    1.Growth (14); 2.Certainty (10) 3.Contribution (10);
    4.Love/ Connection (8.5); 5.Significance (7.5) :6.Variety (5.5)
I’m really looking forward to using it with clients. I’m promoting a family workshop as a couples counsellor together with a parenting coach, so I am going to talk about needs at the preliminary free talk. Doing the test gives me confidence that I will be able to use it with more conviction. I hope it attracts people to sign up for the workshop.

  65. I feel a little confuse: if I choose “yes” to the statement “I like to have as much stability in my life as possible” that adds 1 point to my “certainty” scale, but if I am just “Partialy” sure, that adds 5 points to my “certainty” scale? I will appreciate the answer to this question. On the other hand, the instrument is very interesting and I would like to use it! Thanks!

  69. I just started the pathway of this incredible course. In the space of one week…4 modules…I have changed myself effortlessly and only knew about it when I husband commented repeatedly about how I was lighter and just so different. I am learning so much so quickly. This has been my pathway all along I just didn’t really know it. The test well it is great and I took it and it came out exactly as my homework with Contribution and Growth and my two top needs. Thank you so much for this valuable tool.
